Meet the 'unforgettable' Vicky Erin Ramsingh

Being a model and having been in the industry for quite a while now, she says the trick is to make sure you are 'unforgettable', not only in terms of your appearance but your work and achievements as well.
Vicky Erin Ramsingh herself is not a face (or body, for that matter) that one would easily forget, she is tantalizingly beautiful and her work speaks for itself.

Urban Craft magazine caught up with the gorgeous 23 year old Johannesburg, South Africa model, video vixen and financial accounting student all rolled up in one and she shared with us her journey in the modelling industry and her goals.
Below is how our brief but insightful chat went.

What is it that drew you towards a career in modelling?

Vicky: I took a leap of faith by entering a cosmetic company competition where you go through a series of shortlisting and voting to eventually your top 10 where the winner is crowned and I was exceptionally blessed enough to be the winner and carry out that title. From thereon, my passion for modelling grew as did the opportunities......from music videos to promotional modelling and lingerie modelling etc...

When and where did you decide that you were going to be a model?

Vicky: I think most girls at one stage or another once wished they could be some sort of model, actress or even a singer or thought about it at least. I myself was a late bloomer so-to-speak, I only jumped into the game at 18 going onto 19 and  I was very inexperienced too at the time.

Thus far, how has your journey in the modelling industry been?

Vicky: It's been quite an adventure, I still spend a lot of my time focused on finishing my degree for Financial Accounting. I have been blessed enough to be the face of a cosmetic company throughout their entire nationwide stores. My vixen career has brought me fame and the chance to work alongside many of the industry's illustriuos names. Working in different enviroments has also brought about a need to widen my horizon in terms of incorporating my everyday lifestyle in what I do with my modelling. I will be doing that through my new blog, the one that I am working towards starting.

Is the modelling industry as glamorous as you hoped it would be when you were younger?

Vicky: Hahaha, I laugh because I did actually think that but in truth, there is a lot of work that goes into it. Society just thinks that this industry is an easy one and that we get paid for nothing but to just look beautiful yet it can also be such a tough industry to be successful in. It's an area where you must really enjoy doing what you do because the hours can be long, you have to also learn not to get caught up in yourself and always try to remain humble.

How have you fared over the years in terms of peagents?

Vicky: When I was younger I would try my luck for the school pageants and to my surprise, I actually won quite a number of titles. The Top Ten of the Face of Miss Signature being one of those that I got crowned.
What I enjoy about modelling now is that the industry has also shifted a lot, your normal back then is not what it is today. Who cares if you are not a size 0 and you have tattoos or piercings, beauty can be something different to everyone and once you learn that, your skin becomes 'thicker' and you can take the critism and rejection that does come your way a lot when it comes to modelling.

What are some of the highlights/memorable moments for you in your career thus far?

Vicky: I would like to think of all of my moments as being memorable no matter how big or small the accomplishment is. Every job I land or accept is something that is not taken for granted. I feel that that's something that is important to me especially in this industry where you can't get too comfortable...no one is irreplaceable so it is your job to never be forgettable in order to continue being successful.

What are you working on at the moment?

Vicky: Wow, I am still finishing my studies but I will be done with that soon and I am also excited about the prospect of that and what that chapter brings me. My sister and I are working on a new concept for our upcoming blog about fashion, lifestyle and wellbeing. I definitely feel that is a door I am very keen on opening and bringing to the public. I am also still doing my modelling and photoshoots.

Can you share with us some of your goals?

Vicky: I definitely hope I can further my studies, I believe knowledge is power and you will never stop learning until the day you die. I also hope for my blog to kick off and get the recognition as I feel like it could be something beneficial for a lot of readers.
