Urban Craft went behind the scenes and got an insight into South African photographer/actor/media enthusiast and model, Neo 'Dineo' Myanga's recent photoshoot.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO DO THIS SHOOT?
Dineo: What inspired me to do this photo shoot was Whitney Thompson, the plus size model who won America’s Top Model Circle 10. I have always wanted to be a photographic model but I didn’t have the courage to do so because back in the days the focus had always been about skinny models. I actually wanted to lose a few kilos in order for me to qualify to be a photographic model but after watching Americas Next Top Model 'Circle 10',  I got encouraged and told myself that if she (Whitney Thompson) can do it, so can I and everybody else!
HOW DID THE WHOLE IDEA AND PARTNERSHIP WITH HOUSE OF VOLT FASHIONS COME ABOUT?
Dineo: I wanted to do my own modeling portfolio shoot but wearing designer clothes. We had a fashion show at Rivonia on deck and while designers were showcasing clothes, THE HOUSE OF VOLT had exactly my kind of style and a bonus of my size. Mpho had mostly average and plus sized models so that got me interested. I asked my PA to get me his contacts because I wanted to send a proposal to him. He liked the idea and we arranged and organized photographers (MY ASSISTANT PHOTOGRAPHER) and makeup artist (MY PA). He also designed for me a few garments to add onto the ones he already had ......we went for fittings and boom ......we had our lovely photo shoot.
At the end of the day, he got to have his fashion portfolio with all his best collection and I got to get myself the portfolio I have always wanted wearing designer clothes.
WHAT IS IT THAT YOU AIMED TO BRING OUT IN THIS PARTICULAR SHOOT?
Dineo: My aim was to bring out the best of me in this photoshot, I am not just doing it for my portfolio but I am also building my brand so it can grow bigger and also forge a business relationship.

DO YOU SEE YOURSELF DOING MORE OF THESE PHOTOSHOOTS?

Dineo: Yes, I am seeing myself doing more of these photo shoots. I already have 3 designers lined up.
CAN YOU GIVE US A BRIEF BACKGROUND INTO JUST WHO DINEO IS?
Dineo: Neo Myanga is the Founder of Dine’s Model Managemnt. A well-renounced entertainment photographer and journalist with a vast background in film and theatre, in addition to receiving training from the MASAKHANE ART FESTIVAL by Afrocentric Theatre Faces, GAUTENG SHASHALAZI by Aganaga Theatre Production, GAUTENG ZWAKALA FESTIVAL MARKET THEATRE by Asikhulisane Theatre Production, ZABALAZA THEATRE FESTIVAL CAPETOWN by Kharifhathane Theatre Production. She has appeared in films by Jaydee Media Production, 5 Star Production (NEMISA) and Pushy Passion (NORTHWEST). Neo recently concluded her role as reporter for Tembisa News, Director for Midrand Tembisa tv and Photojournalism for Envirogreen campaign. She has worked with brands such as Beach Party Tembisa by DJ Shimza, Sprite Festival NBA, Soul2soul jazz festival (zonke concert TEMBISA) and Miss Heritage International SA (BLOEMFONTEIN) just to name a few. She brings with her diverse talents, including but not limited to brand management, catering, sales and marketing and promotions, not to mention the insight within events management. Neo is a very determined young woman who believes in herself, she is passionate about photography, producing and acting. She believe that she was brought to earth to heal and bring hope to the hopeless by her gifted hands and creative mind, she wants to see herself changing people’s life through her work.
BESIDES THIS PHOTOSHOOT, WHAT ELSE ARE YOU WORKING ON?
Dineo: I am working on a beauty pageant ( Miss Ambitious Gauteng) that is going to be held next year (2018) but the auditions are commencing this August after our team building trip.

We have Miss Vaal Monateng Café (vmc ) and a fashion show that is happening on the 24th of September 2017 in Durban. To add to that, we are holding a modeling workshop there as well that will happen around July. The list goes on and on some of my plans I would rather keep close to my chest for now, until the time is right.
