Driven by Success, Katlego Molefe's story

Urban Craft caught up with South African model/actor Katlego Molefe and he gave us an insight into his life, his passions and more importantly, his aspirations.
Below is Molefe's story......in his own words.

Background

Katlego Molefe is a South African Actor, Model, Dancer and a young entrepreneur, Founder and CEO of Rapusha Production. Born and raised in Krugersdorp, Munsieville. Well-known for featuring as a Security Guard on High Rollers with character name "Mpho".

Growing up I  always loved the Media industry, since primary school, Art And Culture was my favourite subject. I first fell in love with Media and entertainment industry as a whole when I first appeared on Cutting Edge SABC 1, I was in my seventh grade at the Witkoppen Primary School in 2009. That's when I knew that it was my calling. I consider Modelling and Acting as calling as well.

Origins

It all started at Thuto-Lefa secondary school when i was doing Grade 11 in 2013;  when I had to join a beauty pageant;  Mr. And Miss Thuto-Lefa Secondary School. It was my first time on stage as a modeller. I had the greatest support from people I didn't even know or even associated with within previous events, people I even wouldn't consider to be supporting what I called "My Hustle". I came out as one of the Top 5 chosen participants and was rewarded the title "Mr. Personality". That is when I knew that this is it, Modelling is something I will pursue for the rest of my life. That is when I decided that I was going to acknowledge more aspects about modelling and groom myself further.

The journey so far......

Thus far my journey as a model has been nothing but a fruitful journey. I've learned and gained more experience about the  industry, today I'm proud and even more humbled by the great deals that come my way. I am now coaching other models, both seasoned and upcoming and I had a hand to play in the following:
- Mr. And Miss Munsieville 2015
- Mr. And Miss OT Teen 2016
- Miss Classic 2017

His own perspective ......

My perspective about the entertainment industry was that everything came your way or you had to pay your way up, resulting in fraud.
I never assumed that one has to always prove themselves, all I desired was to see myself on the screen, gain from it and be visualised as a "Successful man". Although, from actors and models I have met previously, I learnt that the industry is welcoming only for those who are passionate.......success begins in our hearts.

Highlights

In 2013 I won the following:
- Mr. And Miss Kagiso 2013, crowned "Mr. Kagiso 2013"
- Mr. And Miss Deep-A-Wear 2013, Crowned "Mr. Deep-A-Wear 2013"
- Mr. And Miss Munsieville 2013 Crowned "The 1st Prince"

In 2016 I was featured on a loction biskop "Step Mother" as "Themba". Then later I was featured on High Rollers S2 as "Mpho".

The climax of it all has to be working with the likes of - Thapelo Mokoena, Nqobile Nunu Khumalo, Muzi Mthembu, Justin Strydom and Antony Coleman on High Rollers S2. I remember every conversation that I had with them was inspirational, during shoots we'd talk about the industry as a whole, and I believe with all the knowledges absorbed by word of mouth, I am still destined to do more than just owning a production.

Rapusha Production

Rapusha Production assists films/theatres with artists who play part as features, extras or even antagonists/protagonists. We give lessons for acting, modelling, presenting and dancing every fourth week of a month, Saturdays. This is to groom artists and not encourage them to pursue a career without being educated prior to playing roles within a field. The production aims to be a foundation for artists to invest within their talents with no sophisticated finance behind the investing; we believe all it takes is a passion and consistency.

Goals

My long term goal is to see myself associating with great film companies like Ferguson Films, Ants, Bomb Shelter and more to be named. To achieve the greatest, I will stay confident, humble and prayer is what I was raised with, thus, it is my weapon of striking. With my success, I would love to make acting and modelling easily accessed for children who come from poor financial background and invest in young and upcoming artists  who are determined to do more than gain fame.
