Edinah Phiri: Simply Fulfilling Her Heart's Desire

"I reflect a varied personality including ambition and the qualities of generosity and thoughtfulness. I am also a well determined individual yet pleasantly calm. I encourage fighting for what you desire and believe in and doing it through God because nothing comes easy and God strengthens everything which is why I think I am going to be a successful model.
"I'm a full time student motivated by my love for learning and succeeding as I strive to become an outstanding and successful woman in today's society", said Edinah Phiri, an aspiring model, who is also studying Media and Society Studies at Midlands State University.

She was of course speaking to Urban Craft magazine in an interview in which she gave us an insight into just who she is but more importantly where she saw herself in the modelling world.

The New Highfield, Harare-based model reckons that she has always been a model but started taking a more professional approach towards it in the year 2017.
"I have always been a model but I was far from being 'a professional fashion model'. 2017 was the year I actually thought of taking my talent to the next stage. I joined Choice Cuts Modelling Agency in early August and from thereon I can confidently say that I could feel that my modelling journey had started.
"So I must say I have always been a model but 2017 was when I decided to actually become more serious about it. I however had to deal with my parents....
'It was hard to get them to actually understand what modelling is all about. I had to give them my word that education and modelling would go well together and that I would not neglect my studies. It was during this time that they actually got to understand that it was what my heart desired that they started to support me, which is really the best feeling ever, just knowing that your family is with you", she said.

Though she has not entered any major competition as yet, the 19 year old beauty said she planned to change all that in 2018 and that she had set her sights on the big stage.
"Through my passion for performing, I have embraced a fanatical interest in pageantry from an infant growing up. I will not be embarrassed to mention that I have not participated in any pageant of note thus far but I took home the title Miss Weekend back in high school, though it was not a professional one", said Edinah aka 'Weekend', as she is affectionately known.

"I am certainly looking forward to participating in more recognizable peagents and events this year", she added

Her plans for the brand new year definitely do not stop there. The young lady explained.....
"Well, I obviously plan big!!! 2017 was kind of an induction for me .... I didn't get the chance to take part in the pageants that I had wished for but hopefully 2018 will bring with it better prospects.
"I'm looking forward to developing my modelling skills and also get to interact more with other successful models out there. l love fame, really want to be well_known and recognized globally", said Edinah Phiri.

She might be a 'newbie' to the game but she definitely has the passion, self determination and not forgetting the looks to go the distance in this industry. Only time will tell but Edinah is surely one of the names to watch out for this year going forward.
