Kash Ditches Hardcore Hiphop for more Commercial Appeal??

Having been a hardcore hiphop artist since the very beginning, it came as a surprise to many of Kenyan rapper, Kash's fans when he announced recently through a brand new single that he was going 'commercial'.

That new single in question is called "Light Up" and apparently states that Kash had ditched the culture for a more commercial appeal, the new single even has a dancehall vibe to it.

"The decision was inspired by wanting to expand my reach and appeal to a wider audience. Having done underground hiphop for a minute, I thought, through talks with my team, it was about time I expand to new horizons and try to capture a larger fanbase and at least add a few club bangers to my catalogue.
"The switch is still new, though I get a lot of fanmail asking about the new release, so for their sake, I am just taking new risks and hope they adjust as well. The market is positive and I would like to appreciate the people embracing it", said Kash.

The artist would however like to reassure his followers that even though he has been 'expanding his horizons', he is STILL very much hiphop to the core and will always remain so.
"Hardcore hiphop runs in my blood, so it's kinda like having bread every breakfast but at times you opt for weetabix or cornflakes, but that don't necessarily mean that I scrapped bread off the menu....hahaha, I am still hiphop and ultimately represent the culture in my day-to-day life", he said.

As a bonus to his die-hard fans, who have stuck with him through thick and thin, the musician has just announced a forthcoming EP, a project that is sure to prove to be a defining moment in his career, having chosen to depart from his usual sound for something more 'commercially-viable'.
"I am working on my new LP "Pon Da Vibe", it's basically me, on a different vibe. I have done singing in the LP, done a reggae song as well. I even played around with different ideas and flows such as the locally accepted "kapuka" style but still maintaining my signature wordplay and punchlines.
"It's got some epic stuff, that, I can promise you! You just have to listen to it and judge for yourself. The LP is dropping on the 14th of August later this year. I have been dropping projects on that same day every year since 2014. August 14th happens to be the day I was born", said the hiphop artist.

Kash began making serious music in 2010. Started out as a rap artist under "Pacho Studios" in 2011, then went into full time hiphop by 2013. Released a mixtape "King Of Kings" 2014, Album "K.O.D (Kash On Delivery)" 2015, A mixtape "The RED Tape" 2016, An E.P "Red Alert" 2017 and the LP "Pon Da Vibe" 2018.

In his short but colurful career thus far, he also managed to start his own label, GRINDHAUZ ENTERTAINMENT in 2013, that he still works under but is currently affiliated to GROSSPOOL MUSIC STUSIOS where he records his music.
Record label, HYBRID MUSIC is however behind the rapper's latest batch of hits, including 'Light Up'.
