Maccasio's Breakthrough Year Just keeps on Getting Better

3Music's Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Ghanaian star, Maccasio has something special for all the mothers out there.

It comes in the form of a single titled 'Mma' (mum), a song that the immensely talented afropop/hiphop musician has just released the visuals to.

"I felt like our mothers go through a lot raising kids, especially nowadays and most of the children don't respect their mothers. Sometimes it is because they forget or they don't see the suffering their mothers go through.
"So I therefore wanted to do a song to remind people just how important our mothers are and the work they put in while trying to raise us", said Maccasio.

This is the message that the recently released visuals to the song itself try and potray.
"In the video we are showing a boy who was so disrespectful to the mother and acting foolishly until someone had to step in to try and make him see the light.
"Even though he doesn't want to listen at first, in the end he realizes he was wrong and apologizes to the mother", explained the afropop/hiphop musician.

Since the song came out, the multi-award winning artist has been inudated with messages of support for going out of his way to not only entertain but also raise awareness through his music.
"The response I am getting has been quite overwhelming thus far. The song really struck a chord in the hearts of many people out there and it has resonated deeply with the majority of my female fans. That is something great to see, something that keeps me doing what I do", he said.

Maccasio (real name Sherif Abdul Majeed) is a native of the Kingdom of Dagbon, in the Northern Region of Ghana. He often raps and sings in his native language Dagbani with the ability to mix it with terms in English and Twi. He has, on a number of occasions  shared the stage with high-profile artists like Davido, Shatta Wale, Samini, Stonebwoy, and VVIP.
He has also collaborated with a few of those collabos being 'Dagomba Girl', (Produced by MOG & Mixed by PossiGee), a track that he did with Mugeez of R2bees and was released earlier in the year.

"As a musician you need to know who the best artists to feature on your songs are because at the end of the day everyone has his or her own unique style and so that particular song required someone like Mugeez, that's the main reason for featuring him.
"It was great actually getting him on the song, he is an amazing artist, very cool and understanding. He is obviously a big artiste in Ghana but one that is not too proud to help upcoming stars also get their chance to shine. That song has been doing very very well and I am so happy having had him on it", said the 30 year old.

Maccasio's trophy cabinet is still a bit light but with the way he has been performing lately, it will be full in no time!
He is of course the recipient of a number of gongs, namely Best Rapper (2017), Northern Region Artiste of the Year (Northern Music awards 2017), Breakthrough Artiste (2018 3Music Awards), People's Choice and Social Media Personality of the Year (PCA 2017), to name but a few.
