Danielle Haskell Making a Difference through Music

US singer/songwriter Danielle Haskell, who is currently making waves with her latest single 'Breath' has described her year so far as nothing short of 'phenomenal'!
The same could be said for the singing sensation's career as well, she has been going from one milestone to another!
"2018 has been a phenomenal year. I was a final nominee with Nashville Universe for Christian Artist of the Year, Christian Artist of the Year for the Akademia Awards as well as being a current nominee for Rising Star in the Josie Music Awards and I am also nominated for Best Music Video category at the Carolina Music Video Awards for my song / video Breath", said the 19 year old.

As amazing as the journey has been for the singer, it sure had its trials and tribulations.  It is however those same moments that moulded her into the talented and beautiful young woman we see today.
"I've had an amazing journey so far, but like anyone, there are days I questioned if this was the right path for me. At 17 I graduated high school and having just faced the loss of loved ones, I was in a place where I was questioning my original plan for music; however, there were always signs and events that were constantly pulling me back. Every time I began to stray or deviate, a new obstacle arose. All the while, my music began to be discovered.
"It was the excitement from my new amazing fans, new DJs from new radio stations, and new platforms who were contacting me and relating to my music on a whole new level that helped me realize the music industry was still calling my name. Words can not express the positive impact this new community of people had on my journey. I often stress, one smile, one word or one person can make all of the difference for someone not only because it's a nice thing to do, it's because I've been the recipient of that one person or in my case many people.
"My excitement to be back in the studio to co-write and record my most recent song Breath was like no other experience. Breath is a reflection of my gratitude towards everyone involved in my music. The relationships I have developed have been priceless and I simply can't thank everyone enough for all of the amazing support I have encountered. I believe everyone we encounter is placed into our life for a reason. If I can return the favor of lifting others up, then my day is made. I believe we are all here for a purpose. Kindness and acceptance of others regardless of our differences, can't be stressed enough, because I am proof that it can make all the difference. My goal is to continue to pay it forward to others through not only my music but by my actions. I was brought up on the idea that while you can't be everyone's best friend there is no excuse for ever being unkind", she said.

For Haskell, each song is not only an outlet but it presents her with a chance to grow and take her music to the next level.
"At a really young age I already loved the arts and the stage. From the time I was 3 years old, I was taking dance, playing piano and acting in children's musical theater camps. By age 6 I added guitar lessons and was already playing piano and singing solos at our Christmas Eve Mass. Even though I never felt like I was chasing fame, by age 11, I started participating in modeling and acting events which lead to me having contracts with 3 agencies. For me, these activities always served as an outlet and where I seemed to fit in best. What I didn't realize at the time was that while I was participating in these events I was forming bonds and learning life lessons about the entertainment industry that were invaluable.
"When I was 16 years old I was presented with the opportunity to write and record my first song. New Day was the first song I ever co-wrote, recorded and did a video, so there was definitely a learning curve that provided for more teachable moments and humorous stories. Since then I have co-written and recorded three more songs which are Forget, Always With You and Breath. I'm likely my biggest critic, but I do view each song as an opportunity for growth and improvement", said Danielle.

From what she herself calls her first 'awkward' years, the singer/songwriter has definitely matured in as far as her songs are concerned, and she can only get better from hereon!
She took the time to break down a couple of her tracks for us and their connection to their author.........
"My second track “Forget” was dedicated to my grandfather who passed from Alzheimer's. While growing up, I visited my grandparents daily. Just as I arrived in Nashville to meet with my co-writer to write a new song, I received a call that my grandfather had fallen and had a brain bleed. I flew home to find him hospitalized and was told that he would likely pass away in a few weeks. During his entire time with Alzheimer’s I was the only person he consistently recognized. He never got my name wrong once. As I began thinking about how extremely blessed I was that, even with a brain bleed, he still recognized me, I knew the concept for my new song had to be that no one is forgotten. God is always with us. Forget was released in March 2016 and hit #2 on the Top 40 International Christian Music in English the week of July 17, 2017 (GT)(IECR).
"Always With You” was my next song and is dedicated to my grandmother who lost her battle with cancer on April 29, 2016 which was my 17th birthday. The title came from the fact that I had bought my grandmother a stone with an angel on one side and the saying “Toujours Avec Toi” (Always With You) on the other side. A few days after I gave the medal to her, I found out she had cancer. All of the sudden, the saying on that medal took on a whole new meaning and I knew the concept for her next song.  I not only wanted but needed a reminder for that those we lose are always with us and so is God. Always With You was released in September 2016 and was #1 on the Top 30  International Inspirational Christian Music in English from June 5th to June 27, 2017 (GT)(ICR)", said Haskell.

Whether it is through her music or volunteer work, Danielle is determined to make a difference in other people's lives.
"As for my career goals, I plan to continue to write and record songs, while, pursing a future career that combines my background in music and music business with the hope of continuing to make a difference in the lives of others. Whether that's through writing and recording more meaningful songs or continuing volunteer efforts with the Alzheimer's walk and others, I simply hope to help others feel happy and that there is always hope", she said.
