Sabrina Maria's Journey in Song

"If my journey through song can help just one person find meaning and perspective, that makes me happy...", says England based modern country/rock singer Sabrina Maria, while at the same time announcing that she is working on a her second album.

Titled 'Life is A Journey', the album, which is expected to contain no less than 10 tracks, will officially be released onto the market this summer.

"I am currently working on my second album; again all self-penned (apart from one song where the lyrics were co-written). 6 of the songs have been recorded, mixed and mastered. The other 4 songs have been recorded without vocals and I'm just waiting to get back into the studio to record the vocals, so it's an exciting time. My second album will be called 'Life is a Journey', which follows on from Blank Canvas.
"l am enjoying every minute of it. I did start to put pressure on myself that I should get out there gigging and I found that it was starting to stress me as I couldn't find the right musicians or support that I needed as it's a very hard industry to crack. When I realised I was putting undue pressure on myself, it made me re-think and re-evaluate and I started enjoying it again, hence writing a second album.
"For now, it is about being a recording artist, enjoying the journey and seeing where it leads because the doors will open if/when the time is right."There are some quite upbeat tracks because I'm in a much happier state of mind these days as opposed to when I wrote my first album. I can't wait to be able to share the album, which will hopefully be available at the end of the summer this year", said Sabrina.

Though Maria's musical career is taking shape now, hers is a journey that started years ago. Her music has allowed her to, not only express herself but touch countless people the world over.
"I'm a 46 year old woman and I entered the music industry quite late. However, I truly believe that you are never too old to follow your dreams. I've been singing since I was a child in school choirs etc. and I performed a lot in local shows during my younger years. I was working on cruise ships, in administration and travelling for a living during my 20's and 30's and at the age of 38, I settled back on land as both my parents were of ill health. Unfortunately, they have both now passed.
"It was around that time that I started writing music; I guess in a way it was a release and a way of putting my emotions into perspective. My debut album, Blank Canvas, which was released last year in March 2017 expresses a lot of those emotions.
"At the moment, I am just enjoying writing the music, going into the studio and recording. My songs have touched a lot of people as they say they can resonate to some of the songs on my album. I have some amazing fans, in such a short span of time who have been incredibly supportive and at the end of the day, it's about people appreciating your music. If my journey through my songs can help just one person find meaning and perspective, that makes me happy", she said.

Besides music, one thing that is close to Sabrina's heart is kids, especially the less-advantaged. Just being there and being able to play a positive part in their lives is something that she finds fulfilling.
"I am currently a full-time landlord and in the process of fostering children. My professional career used to be in administration management. I decided in March this year, that I no longer wanted to be in an office environment as the work didn't excite me as it once used to. I wanted to focus the next part of my working career on feeling rewarded in my career. I decided that what could be more rewarding than helping give children in need a chance in life to succeed?
"I know it is not going to be an easy journey, but it will be one I can learn from (as we never stop learning, if we allow ourselves to) and hopefully the experience will help me to grow as well as the children. Plus, I'm sure some great songs will come out of the experiences / emotions, which as you know is another side to my career", said the singer.

The artist believes that while it is necessary to have goals, it is also just as important to trust in The Lord.
"At the moment, I am concentrating on my 2nd album and enjoying the summer whilst I wait for children to come into my life. I don't like to think too far ahead, as God laughs whenever he hears our plans (I say this from experience).
"The best way is to have goals, but surrender them to the hands of God and what's meant to be will be and in the meantime, it's important to enjoy living in the moment.  As I mentioned earlier, doors open when it is the right time", said Sabrina.
