‘Boss Sakina’ Here To Stay

Things have certainly been looking up for emerging singer/songwriter and socialite ‘Boss Sakina’ since she successfully re-launched her music career earlier this year.

The strikingly beautiful singer’s debut 8 years ago had virtually gone unnoticed but she has so far managed to make up for all that lost time and is certainly doing everything in her powers to make sure that her presence is felt this time around and she does not fall off the radar ever again!

Her Valentine’s Day release ‘Unyengerere’ is still making waves on the local scene and so are her follow-up singles. During the launch of the track ‘Unyengerere’ itself, she shared the stage with other upcoming artists who are also doing exceptionally  well in the music industry, namely The Mystery, Navigator and Makaleli --- Who are all recorded by Jairos Hamba (Jairos used to play in Mtukudzi's band as a key board player and behind the hit song "Shaina" by Alexio Kawara).

After the launch it became apparent to the musician that it is not always easy to get opportunities, especially when it comes to gigs, when you are an upcoming artist.
“Me and my sister and came up with an idea of hosting an annual concert for upcoming artists called ‘Mamvuradonha’, the shona name of waterfalls. The first concert was relatively successful with the likes of Dhadza D and Djmbale in attendance. Dhadza was so supportive, he is such a good mentor....after the show we agreed to do more work together”, said Sakina.

The versatile artist explores her music through a wide-variety of genres, among them, afropop, dancehall and traditional shona.
“I was invited by Dhadza D to try dancehall, he inspired me to take on the challenge, that’s when I recorded ‘Mabhebhi Ese’ on the Tour Riddim by Cymplex  under  Solid Records Label.  The riddim feautured other locally-recognizable names like Seh Calaz, Freeman, Gaspy Warrior and Dadza D of course.
“I quickly developed a musical relationship with the sound And have since recorded 3 more singles with Cymplex namely BABY DADDY, USANDIYERURE and NDINOGANZA”, she said.

The talented musician who is currently making the rounds with her latest single ‘Ndochimhanya’ that features another talented female artist in Bounty Lisa promised that the visuals to her two hit singles ‘Unyengerere’ and ‘Ndinoganza’ will be available on the market before year end.

Apart from music, the singer who grew up in St Mary's Chitungwiza runs  a family owned construction company – apparently that's also where the name ‘boss Sakina’ originated from.
