Lorena Baricalla ; From One Milestone To Another

“For me the biggest Prize is the emotion that I read in the eyes of the audience after one of my performances. The biggest achievement is to receive every day wonderful messages of support from all around the world on my socials. This is for me a great help to go on in my artistic way”, said prima ballerina/singer/actress, Lorena Baricalla, while speaking to Urban Craft magazine in a wide-ranging interview that touched on her career and upcoming projects, among other things.

She was of course speaking to us on the sidelines of her preparations for some exciting upcoming events that are set to kick off this December.
“I am now preparing as Ambassadress and Master of Ceremonies the 3rd Monaco World Sports Legends Award, the Oscars of Sport, a 2-days event in Monaco that I present in 5 languages. It will be held at the beginning of December and it is produced by PromoArt Monte-Carlo Production. In the past editions the WSLA awarded sporting stars as Mika Hakkinen, Giacomo Agostini, Carl Fogarty, Sir Tony Mc Coy, Mick Doohan, Jacky Ickx.
“On this occasion, I am also the host of the Oscars of Sport’s talk show “Sporting Stars: the men or the woman behind the champion” that you can follow on the web channels of the World Sports Legends Award on You Tube, Vimeo, Daily Motion”, said Baricalla.

Being a fashion enthusiast, Lorena is thrilled at prospect of stepping out onto the red carpet in some of the finest garments and accessories.
“This exclusive entertainment and red carpet event reunites sporting stars, show, art, fashion and glamour. In this occasion I am also an Ambassador for fashion and luxury brands. I will wear in the 2 days round 20 outfits by haute couture fashion designers. For the Award Ceremony and red carpet I will wear 5 amazing gowns by franco-libanese designer Dany Attache. As well I will wear one of his creations for the Press Conference and the Awarded Dinner on the Day 1. I have just been in Paris to do the fittings. As host of the Talk Show I will wear Raquel Balencia, a spanish designer based in Milano. I had big difficulties in selecting the dresses as they are all wonderful!
“Now I will have to select the luxury jewel-watches by the Swiss brand Century Time Gems that will match the different outfits. They are all so beautiful and with such a creativity! This is really the nice side of my job, not only rehearsals and meetings”, she said.

Having started ballet at the tender age of 4 and signed her very first contract when still only 10, it was only a matter of time before she hit the big stage.
“Step by step and thanks to the hard work I became a prima ballerina. I danced the leading roles at the Monte-Carlo Ballet. After few years I also wanted to become a choreographer and I created my own production company, PromoArt Monte-Carlo Production, which produces me as an artist till now. This gave me the opportunity also to extend my career to acting and singing. I always loved to express myself in different ways and to give me new challenges.
“I think I had few turning points, not only one. This because in a career there are evolutions and new possibilities all the time thanks to the hard work, discipline and perseverance, but also with a little bit of luck.
“That’s why I also became a singer and an actress and not only a prima ballerina. Moreover, as I wanted to create my own shows, I also became a choreographer, a writer and a producer by founding my own production company. I followed the American model as this is quite current in the USA but totally unusual in Europe. So I am happy to have been able to reunite what for other people are different jobs following my passion”, said the multi-talented artist.

More than anything else, Lorena is thankfuf to be in the position that she is today--- realising her goals --- one by one. She is grateful for have travelled so far and accomplished all that she has.
“I am thankful to have been able to realize many things until today.  As I told at the beginning of my career, I performed the leading roles at the Monte-Carlo Ballet: Scheherazade from the Russian Ballets repertoire– a role that marked my beginnings giving me a lot of recognition -, the Mermaid in The Prodigal Son by Balanchine, the Marquise in Marco Spada, the Gypsy in The Two Pigeons by Ahton, the Taming of the Shrew… In addition, I have often been the star of the National Day Galas in honor of the Prince of Monaco. When I left the Monte-Carlo Ballet with the aim of furthering my career, I performed in many shows for theatre and television. The most amazing moment is when, for the Mediterranean Games Gala, I danced my own choreography “The Symphony of the Sea” with my corps de ballet and a symphonic orchestra in front of a live audience of 20,000 and millions of Eurovision viewers. This is really a great memory!
“When I founded Promo Art Monte-Carlo Production - which operates at international level in all Europe, Emirates, USA and it is specialized in the conception and realization of new entertainment projects, big events and shows- I created and performed in number of shows for theatre, television and important events with casts of up to 100 supporting artists: Thalassa, Time Machine, Matrix, Belle Epoque Cancan, The Canticle of Canticles, The Angel, The Trip of Ulysses, etc.. Thanks to my 3-octave voice range, I also became the only soprano who sings while dancing on point shoes. In my show “Musical Dreams” I have performed the best hits from The Phantom of the Opera, Moulin Rouge, West Side Story, Cats, Evita, New York New York, My Fair Lady, Victor Victoria, Beauty and the Beast, Jesus Christ Superstar …
As an actress I could perform in The Light of Memory, in roles as My Fair Lady and Victor Victoria. I could be filmed on the set for many videos, presentations, talk shows and I became a Master of Ceremonies for international events. For example, I presented Prince Albert of Monaco during the “Red and White Night” at the Cannes Film Festival.
“I had and I have now many great experiences. For example, when I performed in Carmen, held in Sevilla, Spain, where the original story takes place; or when Garry Kasparov – the World Chess champion – presented my musical show “Checkmate” on Abba music.  I also remember when I recently worked with Golden Globe winner actor Armand Assante. In my career, I have had great moments in all the countries where I performed: in the USA, in Japan, in Russia, in all Europe, in the Emirates, in Qatar”, she said.

While giving us an idea of what to expect from her in the near future, the prima ballerina/actress/singeralso talked about how, as public figures, we all need to recognize our responsibility towards the younger generation.
“I received few proposals in the movie industry and I hope that these projects will concretize soon. As well my goal is to realize the whole project of “Origins, the Answer” as a prima ballerina, actress, and singer. It took 5 years of work to myself and to our production company to complete the concept, the visuals, the showreels, the design. I also wrote the scripts and books that are the basis for the 3 movies and for the show for big arenas which uses a new concept that we have called Live Movie Musical Show.
“ORIGINS has the potential to become a new internationally winning “world”, taking over in the aftermath of “Lord of the Rings”, “Stars Wars” and “Harry Potter”. We are now ready to start the production of the Live Live Movie Musical Show and our idea is to realize it in the USA…I am also looking for an editor for the Trilogy books I wrote.
“It is an adventurous and spiritual epic saga amidst past, present, and future which bring the Answer to the mystery of Man’s origins. 5000 pages of research and a deep personal exploration of the matter have been necessary to put together the basis of the Origins’ world. Although they are very different, the Origins trilogy books can be ranked in the same vein as The DaVinci Code or The Secret.
“2 years ago I created the “MethodeRusse de Monte-Carlo de Lorena Baricalla”, (the Lorena Baricalla Monte-Carlo Russian Method) a new ballet method of teaching, to support young dancers and ballet schools.
“I provide an international Training Program to the Affiliated Schools that are now round 15 in different countries. It is an innovative evaluation system on 14 levels. As well every year our company PromoArt Monte-Carlo Production organizes an event in Monaco which reunites the young dancers for the exams in front of a jury made up of international ballet stars. In that occasion, we also offer 10/15 scholarships. I think it is important to show the way to the new generation and I feel the responsibility in being a role model for them. Passion and determination are the best companions in life!”, said Lorena.
