For Collins Tafadzwa Soza, otherwise known by the stage name Dj Tcoolz, what virtually started out in a bedroom studio as early as 2012 is slowly but surely taking shape --- the stars are certainly aligning in his favour when it comes to his career!

“My music journey started 6 years ago, back when we used to have a bedroom studio called Rockersland Records that we used to record with my fellow classmates but none of us really took it that serious then.
“As we all know, a career is like a journey and as such, we are still on it .......The journey has not been that easy, it’s tough and it takes its toll on you --- from the frustration of not being given chances to the lack of funding, but we are still surviving. I remember trying to do ‘passa passa’ shows but ended up not being able to play at a single one as a result of sabotage and rejections by promoters. A little while after this things started picking up for the better though and we once hosted a show with Dj Gunshot in Glen View which racked in good figures in terms of crowd attendance and the much-needed cash”, said the young man who is inspired by the likes of DJ Flevah, Dj Trouble (Bodyslam), Dj L-roq and Dj Garry B.

Fast forward 6 years later and the 20-something old entertainer who is also a student at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) is holding his own in the industry. He is currently in the process of putting together his very first ‘riddim’, one he hopes can entice the ‘who’s who’ of the local dancehall fraternity.
“Right now I’m working on producing my first ever dancehall riddim with a local studio in Glen View that we will try by all means to include a couple of household names. Our followers should look forward to some exciting stuff next year as we will be releasing mixtapes more frequently so that the fans stay entertained”, said Soza.

Support does go a long way in anything that we as humankind embark on and the young man agrees,
“My  family hasn’t fully-embraced the idea as yet, so havatozvifarire to be honest... Since most shows happen in the night and continue till the early hours of the morning, it can be hard on a school student. But I’m sure that with the support of my family, I will be able to take my career to the next level”, he said.

For him to fulfil his potential, the young Dj feels that it is important for the arts industry to also open doors for upcoming talent and allow it ample time to shine.
“As is the trend all over the nation, well-established DJs and promoters are not as welcoming with open arms as they should be....the younger generation is in need of proper platforms and reasonable time-slots for them to showcase their talent. This is one aspect of the industry that I think needs to be addressed before we lose anymore talent”, he said.

As new as he is to the fray,  Dj Tcoolz  has already gotten the chance to rub shoulders with some established names in the local industry, the likes of  Nduna, Lady Squander, Dj Smilley, Sasco Tee, Qounfuzed, Lady Bee, Cello Culture, Seh Calaz, Ninja kid, Jah Hanief and Ricky Fire, to mention but a few. These collaborations have, without a doubt, propelled and cemented his status as one of the emerging stars on the local scene.

Most people will of course also be familiar with the Budiriro-bred Dj courtesy of him being the founder and C.E.O of the ever-growing entertainment clique called Trap Nation, which hosts parties and events in and around the capital city.
“I have played in clubs like Big Apple, Club263, Solomon’s Café, Club Empire (Chinhoyi), Club 1+1, Club Eclipse and I once had a regular spot at Stephen Margolis Resort and many other clubs. I would like to one day soon hold down a place at  renowned events and spots like Madirirano, Lake July Dj Festival, carnivals, Sankayi and Club Connect and maybe at a radio station, especially Zi-fm”, said Soza.
