Andrea Curato’s Cool Stuff Records Gets Off the Mark

In an effort to continue shining the spotlight on emerging talent and spreading good music all over the globe, NAPLES, Italy producer, Andrea Curato kicked-off the year with the launch of his own record label, Cool Stuff Records.

That same record label is responsible for what Mike Fossati (SpiritOfHouse.com) described as a ‘truly glamorous verily soulful jewel’. He was of course talking about ‘Khumbula’, a collaboration between Andrea and Zimbabwean-born songstress Valerie Sibanda, who lent her incredibly soothing vocals to the track.
“2019 is definitely my year! More importantly because I finally managed to launch my own label (Cool Staff Records). It’s an independent label in collaboration with my soulmate ‘LA STEPH’, who cares about graphics, marketing and talent scouting. The purpose of this endeavour is providing visibility for emerging artists, releasing my tracks courtesy of the label, and spreading that good music message all over the world.
“The main genres that we are focusing on are soulful house and afro. My first release will of course be an afro soul tune in collaboration with singer / songwriter Valerie Sibanda. The track is called Khumbula and the vocals are in English --- with particular interludes in our native language”, said Andrea while speaking to Urban Craft magazine from his base in Naples.

Aside from refining his craft and establishing his label on the global market, the producer hopes to tour abroad as well in the coming months.
“Presently I’m focused on promoting my brand new label, trying to produce quality music always. One of my goals is to take my work abroad and explore places like South Africa, a place that I’ve found to be a vibrant market for the arts, I hope to find some good gigs and talent there”, he added.

With almost 3 decades-worth of experience in the industry as a dj, the Naples native has no doubt seen and heard it all. It is that same experience that he hopes will guide him as he sets about on this music production path.
“2 years ago I set off on my music production journey and began creating my own beat, starting from the drum programming, playing bass, synth, making solo moog and so on.. all by myself!
“It was only a matter of time before I  put out my first release on Brazilian label, Grooveland Music owned by BSC, Brazilian Soul Crew, and it was a 10 years of house music compilation compiled by Edson Edground, founder of the label. ‘Africa Mama’, on the other hand, represents a traditional Swahili poetry with a captivating afro beat and lush chords. This is considered my stepping stone for all my later productions. The same track will be included on the CURATO GROOVE EP tracklist.
“Traxsource -the main digital platform specialized in soulful & afro house - includes me in the Best Top 100 Producers 2018 – Soulful House Genre , rating me at #98 with 262 features in DJ Top10 Charts and with 34 tracks being in the Top100 during the 2018. I consider it a good score for one to be acknowledged after only producing music for only one and a half years. I felt very honoured and blessed because I was one of the few Italian producers to be mentioned in this chart”, said the producer who is heavily influenced by rnb, soul music and jazz.

The exceptionally-talented Italian producer/dj took us down memory lane to the very beginning of this latest chapter in his music journey.
“I’d like to think that my professional career as a producer started and evolved accordingly over the years. I’ve had the honor of producing tracks for some well-known labels in the house music industry such as Quantize Recordings (related to Dj Spen) King Street Sounds (label pioneer of the underground music scene), Poji Records (Owned by Dj Pope), Vibe Boutique Records (by Ms Brigetta Dunson) and Merecumbe Recordings (by Doug Gomez).
“I’ve worked with quite a number of recognized vocalists such as Chanelle (NYC), Morris Revy (coming from Nigeria), Phumla (from South Africa), Tumelo Tapes Ranyali (from SA). I also managed to demonstrate my skills as a valid ‘remixer’ and received a lot of positive feedback for the remix of ‘Hey Now’ by Venessa Jackson, released by Pasqua Records.
“I would also like to thank King Street Sounds for giving me the chance to remix a classic anthem by Blaze, UDAFUL & the dope voice of Arnold Jarvis (remix comes on 15th February, so stay tuned)”, said Andrea.
