The Return of Mai Patai

After re-uniting with her faithful fans in 2018 after an extended hiatus courtesy of a new album, the same album that spawned hits like ‘Anokomborera’ and ‘Ndinodavira’ that made it onto the popular Radio Zimbabwe Coca-Cola Top 50 chart, celebrated gospel musician, Mai Patai is hoping to build upon this momentum heading into the New Year and going forward.

With everybody else having counted her out, it was quite an epic way to re-introduce herself to the industry, one that only someone of Mai Patai’s calibre was capable of!
“2018 was a blessed year for me, l was able to reunite with my fans after a long time of being quiet in the music industry through the album ‘Punish the Devil’. I am happy to say that it was well-received and the warm reception from the fans and the industry itself was quite overwhelming”, said the singer/songwriter while speaking to this publication recently.

Buoyed by her recent success, Mai Patai has her sights set on putting out another album and of course, going out to re-connect with her fans through more music shows.
“My resolutions for the year 2019, are to release a brand new album, continue to make more spiritually-uplifting music as well as embarking on more live shows.
“I would not like to change anything but l would like to keep doing better and add excellence upon excellence. I am currently working on my new album and l plan to make the best out of this album. I will be in a better position to share the particular details in as far as this upcoming project is concerned in the coming weeks”, she said

The gospel musician also took the opportunity to appreciate her fans, whom she thanked for always staying faithful and by her side no matter what. Her fans proved as much when their votes made sure that 2 of her songs made it into the top 10 of the Coca-Cola Top 50 chart – something of which is by no means a small feat.
“One of the major highlights for me this past year was probably seeing how even after all that time away, my fans still stood by me in the best way possible and voted for my music in their numbers, leading to my songs making it onto Radio Zimbabwe Coca-Cola cola top 50.
“It was because of their efforts that ‘Ndinodavira’ was number 9 and ‘Anokomborera’ made it all the way to number 3! They never forgot about me and for that I am forever grateful”, said MAI Patai.
