A Call Back to the Heart of Worship

By Tapiwa Marume

Talented Mufakose based up-coming gospel musician, founder and leader of the outfit Heart of Worship, Blessing Tawanda Kazembe aka ‘Minister Blessing’, passionately contends that worship in Christian circles has lost its essence and true meaning to just ‘mere popular entertainment’ dominating the world today.

This birthed in him the idea to organize a night of worship, a special four hour evening church service dedicated strictly to nothing but singing songs to glorify, honor, appreciate and praise the creator, the triune God, whole heartedly in sincerity and awe of His majesty.
“Gospel music in these days has taken another direction, people are ‘lightening’ it up in terms of the value it used to have, it’s now being taken predominantly as a business and its also more of entertainment (than ministry).
“That is why the group is called Heart of Worship, a name given to me by God when I asked him what name would be proper to identify the group. We are calling people back to true worship. The bible says those who worship the Father must do so in Spirit and in truth.
“So on the 1st of March between 6-10 pm, we will host the event we have called Worship Night under the theme ‘Heart of Worship’ at Restoration Ministries International, corner Muonde and Mutamba avenues in Mufakose. We are inviting people from all church denominations and those who don’t attend church to come and participate free of charge,” said Minister Blessing.

A fulltime member at Restoration Ministries International (RMI), the gifted vocalist and acoustic guitar player added that they had a special surprise line up of anointed guest musicians billed to minister and perform at the event. He believes God will minister back to his people at the service, especially in the context of tumultuous times the nation of Zimbabwe is going through.
“We are expecting people to experience real worship as opposed to worshiping for ‘fun’, we are praying that God will come through in a super-charged atmosphere of His very presence to personally minister to his people. The bible says where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty, so we’re expecting people to be set from oppressions of all kinds.
“It’s not going to be about competing to see who has the most beautiful voice or who can play an instrument better, it’s about God. People in Zimbabwe are going through a rough and tough time, but I believe that if we come together in united worship things will happen, just like how the Israelites blew trumpets and sang around Jericho and its walls fell, we trust whatever kind of ‘walls’ prevailing in Zimbabwe to fall and be destroyed when we will unite in true worship,” he emphasized.

The group Heart of Worship is a versatile gospel music outfit based in Mufakose and was founded by Minister Blessing about three years ago with the major drive to bring back people to true worship. The group comprises of both male and female members totaling 14 with a defined passion for music.

Heart of Worship is currently doing final touch-ups on their untitled first single to be released some-time in the near future. The youthful group uses modern instruments that include electric guitars, keyboards, sax and drums accompanied by crisp vocals to produce a unique sound that fuses traditional and western styles of music.

Minister Blessing who is also the son of Apostle Rose Kazembe, the pastor at Restoration Ministries International, intimated that his music is heavily influenced by veteran local gospel music icon Minister Michael Mahendere. He pointed out their song selection for the event features a few popular songs by the artist, one or two from Eben and Africa’s finest Sinach, and a few others from the international gospel scene.
