Zanele Basks In the Glory of SA HEROES nomination

It appears that South African model Nontobeko Zanele Phakathi’s tireless efforts in as far as youth empowerment have surely not gone unnoticed. Her recent nomination for the inaugural SA Heroes Awards definitely goes a long way in acknowledging the young entrepreneur’s hard work.

The awards ceremony is slated for the 27 of April and the model herself is of course nominated in the ‘Youth Empowerment’ category.
“I am nominated for South African Hero Awards in the Youth Empowerment category.  There are literally no words to describe what an honour it is to be nominated.  There were 27 entries in the category and only 7 where chosen. Being one of them basically means I'm recognized for the work I do and that's just the motivation I need to keep me going”, said an excited Zanele.

The founder and CEO for Zanele Power House, Soweto Diamonds Model Academy and co-founder of Soweto Royalty Foundation is elated at the thought of being counted among some of South Africa’s everyday heroes and hopes that it can inspire the younger ones as well to never stop believing in themselves.
“This nomination means that people see what I do and somehow feel I need to be credited for it. Youth Empowerment has always been part of me. I never knew at first but now I see it is my purpose. It’s what I was born to do. It means I am able to say that at age 20 I was nominated alongside some amazing everyday heroes from the whole of South Africa.
“My hard work and dedication surely hasn't gone unnoticed, in fact it motivates others to do even more than what they are doing now. As a young woman from Soweto it's an honour. I'm glad I can go back home and tell the young ones that they also can do whatever they set their minds on.  If I could do it then they can too!”, she said.

The nomination has not only given Zanele a new-found surge going forward but also serves as an everyday reminder of the beautiful young women’s unrelenting desire to see her fellow youths empowered.
“More than anything I have so much pressure moving forward which is good and bad at the same time. I know that I now need to work even harder to keep up and continue to inspire.  I also know that there are so many people that look up to me that are watching my journey so this isn't just for me. I will do my best to continue changing lives”, said the model/entrepreneur.
