She is touted as the 'queen' of local hiphop (and rightly so) but she has been quiet for a while and had left her hardcore fans wondering where she had disappeared to.
Well, worry no more because Black Bird is back and raring to go again, she is back to reclaim her throne!

The revered rapper recently announced her return with the release of a 3 track EP titled 'Love Triangle'.
"It has already been released and the music is available online. I just decided to give my fans the music first before radio. I make music for the people so naturally I decided to give them the music two weeks before I give it to radio", said Black Bird.

To the hiphop artist, the EP presented her with the chance to showcase her versatility and below she explains how.
"Most people hear the words 'Love Triangle' and think of a messy romance involving 3 people but this isn't the case here. It is just me doin 3 different types of luv songs but for one person.
"The track 'Mirira' has a reggae vibe and I did it with Dj Smiley, on the next track (Boaz) I am alone but doin it old skool 90s rnb style. 'Gangsta Papi' on the other hand features Miles and is more of a modern typa hiphop rnb song on a Nickie (Minaj) and August Alsina type of vibe. The EP is basically me just showing my versatility and diversity on the mic. 3 songs, 3 different styles equals the Love Triangle", said the femcee.

"Production_wise i worked with the reggae band House of Stone on 'Mirira', they made the 'riddim' that me and Smylie used and the song 'Boaz' was a Croft beat but production was done by JayDot. On 'Gangsta Papi' I did the track on a Hot Ice beat and it was produced by Trigga at Skanking International in Harare", she added.

The female rapper said that besides being clean and 'radio friendly', the EP was a celebration of love.
"I believe in love and I know lots of christians are in love but don't have any clean love songs to not only listen to or dedicate to their partners. So just like I did with 'Waitin for Luv', I made wholesome love songs for my fans.
"This trio of songs is meant to speak to all those in love or searching for love.. people are way too materialistic nowadays and shallow so all I wanted to do was remind people that love matters. That bond, that connection, it matters more than money or status. Love is everything", she said.

It is no lie that the hiphop game could use the presence more strong female rappers in her mould and the femcee acknowledged just as much while at the same time promising more music.
"Well, lots of people have been complaining over the past two years that females in Zim hiphop are slacking and that I need to come back in the game. I never really left but I guess the fans felt that void since I have not released any new material in a while.
"I have been in the studio these past two years focused on my craft but forgetting my fans, so for that I apologize and to them I present this EP of love songs as an peace offering before I drop the rest of my material on them over this summer and early 2018", said Black Bird.

The rapper reckons that the time away has allowed her to not only fine_tune her sound but experiment with it as well and it is something that she hopes will be evident for all to see in her new material.
"In the year 2018, I have two albums lined up. People have been asking for my music so expect lotsaaa singles over the next few months.
"Being out the country 2016-17 has allowed me to experiment on new sounds and with new producers as well, both in SA and Zambia... so there is a lot to come in 2018", she said.
