Urban Craft magazine had the pleasure of speaking to French born musician Lockless who was more than happy to share with us details to his musical journey while at the same time giving us an idea of what he was working on at the present moment.

The talented singer/guitarist also took the opportunity to announce that he had already reached 103% for the Crowdfunding initiative that he set in place to finance his first solo project that is slated for release in 2020 (he has managed to do so in only a 1/3 of the time and is targeting the 200% mark in the coming weeks).

Lockless (real name Timothy) has had quite a colourful journey in the industry filled with many milestones and amazing moments, a few of which he was happy to share with us during our chat.
“I've been playing music since the age of 15 and more seriously since the age of 20 with different reggae bands. I then created my very own reggae/hiphop band called STRICKAZ in 2010, with another singer (Simon) who sings in French. We've released 3 indie albums that you can listen to on Spotify and all the other platforms. It’s a trilogy called "The First Tales of Strickaz (Chater 1, 2 and 3). The sound is very ‘dynamik’ with horns, guitar solos (I'm the singer/guitarist) and heavy dub parts.
“We've probably played about 200 gigs all over France since then, in pubs, small and big venues, festivals etc... We've opened for U-Roy, Winston Mc Annuff, Anthony B, Raggassonic (famous French Ragga band), Beat Assaillant, General Levy and more”, said the 31 year old.

He has also managed to cover some ground as a solo artist over the last number of years and done a lot prove that he deserves his chance in the spotlight.
“For the last 2-3 years, I've started my solo project "Lockless" (I used to have dreadlocks) I focused on making covers of famous soul songs in a reggae style. I’ve also played in quite a lot of pubs with a 2h soul n' reggae cover set and a few of my own compositions”, said the musician.

The artist is already has his eye on the coming year and is looking forward to building his brand and becoming a recognized solo act globally.
“As for 2020, I'd love to release my first solo album with reggae/soul compositions. I've already contacted several record companies and booking agencies to help me. I'm very confident about this new project, thanks to my experience with bands over the years.
“I can't say I’m a professional, insofar as I don't pay rent with my music, but I can't say I'm an amateur, because and regularly get paid for what I do, but it's never enough to make a living out of it. So let's say I'm a semi-pro, and obviously, my goal is to become a pro”, he said.
