Country music star Blair Mathews could not be happier in this moment in time, his career has been enjoying quite the purple patch of late.

The gifted singer/songwriter expressed those same sentiments while talking to Urban Craft magazine recently.
“I couldn't be happier with where my career is going right now. After spending most of last year touring and performing I have been able to get back into the studio and back to the craft of writing. While I love performing and seeing my fans there is an intangible magic in the process of song writing. The production process has been really gratifying and I love the collaboration part as well, not forgetting the amazing experience of being in the studio with some of the world's most accomplished musicians and techs.
“Living in Nashville has allowed me to work with some of the coolest people in music. My friendship with Grammy Award Winning Engineer Chad Carlson has been a god send. He's introduced me to some of the most talented people in the biz. I was super stoked about being a Finalist in the highly acclaimed ISC International Song Competition for my work with Keith Dozier on ‘All I've Got Going Is You”, said Mathews.

His latest single ‘Back When’ has of course been making the rounds and helping take the ‘Blair Mathews’ brand to the people.

Apart from the new track, Mathews opened up to us about a few of his impending projects and also shared a few of his goals.
“Just released my single "Back When" and its gaining huge traction on numerous playlists right now. Busy working on filming the music video for "Back When" in California. The follow-up single to drop in about 2 weeks is called "Chance To Lose You." I'm also busy working on a pop genre project with Jeff Allen that is super exciting. Back in Nashville this fall and in the studio working on my next CD.
“My main focus is on getting this next CD material written and recorded. The band and I have some dates this fall to play and were adding more to tour in support of the current releases. Long-term I want to be able to continue developing my music and my career. I am interested in a couple of potential production projects as I enjoy working with new artists and helping coach and develop their sound”, said the country singer.

Being the exceptional songwriter that he is, we asked Blair to give us an idea of what goes on behind the scenes and how he manages to come up with those lyrical gems. He was of course, more than happy to oblige us……
“I think that most true song writers will say that they possess a type of obsession with this craft. I can't go through a day without stopping to record a melody or writing down a great hook line or idea. My family thinks I'm crazy I'm sure, but I can be literally anywhere, eating dinner out, at a ball game, in the car - wherever and I will suddenly be totally quiet working through a chorus idea with cross melodies and even some instrumentation - all going on in my head.
“I can be heard humming ideas into my phone. Singing ideas in the bathroom at 2am into my voice memos. While I can now actually plan writing sessions and go to a location, get a cup of coffee and co-write with someone, my best stuff comes from inspiration, something I hear on TV, or from my daughter. I write in my studio at the back of my property in a Pre-Civil War cabin and once I get started on building drum beats and loops, laying down an acoustic guitar and sometimes piano - I can suddenly look up with my headphones on and find that its 3:30am. It's crazy to some but that’s how it works for me”, he said.

The singer/songwriter has, among other accomplishments, headlined the Georgia Peach Festival in 2018, headlined the Harley Davidson Summer Concert Series in Alabama and was a Finalist in the ISC International Song Writing Competition. He shared with us a few of his own favorite moments from the past.
“I really enjoyed producing our "Live From Springland Cabin" series that we developed over the past couple years. We did a series of really cool acoustic concerts in various settings that were filmed. Many were in my Civil War Cabin and the band and I had a blast with that. We brought in exclusive guests to join us and created some really cool organic productions. Many recordings can be found online on my YouTube Channel”, said the musician.
