Nashville has over the years opened its doors to some of the world’s best singer/songwriters and gave quite a considerable number of them, not just a home but a place where they can hone in on their craft and take it to the next level!
One of those talents is none other than Rachel Lipsky, whose rise as a musician has been significant since being taken in by what is virtually the ‘capital of country music’. Talking to us recently, the performer shared some of the highlights of her career so far.
“Besides performing for our Military, anytime I get to share the stage or shake a hand of someone I had admired since I was a young girl, someone who has left an imprint on Country Music, it is humbling and surreal. I've been able to open for Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Old Dominion, Lady A, Thomas Rhett, Charlie Daniels, Toto (just to name a few) and I was able to meet Garth Brooks, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Collin Raye. Being able to work with industry badasses like Shane Barrett, Jeff Coplan and Denny Carr or write with people that have already made their mark -- I feel like I'm rambling now, but it's crazy how Nashville really takes you in and looks out for the future. It takes a village to make it in this industry and it always makes an impact to be a part of this industry.
“My journey has been incredible in this industry, by no means am I saying it has been easy, but it sure has been fun! I've met so many amazing people and have experienced incredible adventures. My favorite so far has been going overseas to Afghanistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Djibouti, Spain and Portugal on five tours entertaining our troops”, said Rachel.
The gifted musician has of course just released a brand new 4-track EP titled ‘Leave the Night Burning’ and is looking forward to seeing how music fans respond to it in the coming months.
It seems that the goal for the Nashville-based artist is to always go out there and try to outdo one's self with each new opportunity that presents itself.
“Every year I get to mark another goal off of my list, it's always surprising looking back every December and enjoying the wonderful things that have happened. Immediately, I am still trying to sing the National Anthem at a Denver Broncos football game, I always want to keep going back overseas to entertain our troops, I keep building my fanbase, I want to always write a better song than I did yesterday, in the future, I still have dreams about opening for many other artists, winning Grammies, CMA Awards, selling out arenas and stadiums. I'm in it for the long haul and only death can take me out”, she said.
Singing is something that came naturally for Rachel but for her to take it more professionally, it took the unrelenting efforts and push of one close friend.
“I literally have a fire in my soul that is burning bright, I wake up and want to be the best I can be, keep momentum going and at the end of the day, I have SO much fun! I've worked a lot of jobs in my life (a lot of times 2-3 jobs at once) and nothing has ever made my heart soar than being creative and playing music. For a long time, when I was younger, I always loved singing but was afraid to write songs. A friend of mine (who's passed away now) kept pushing me and inspiring me to be open to the idea of writing. It's such an incredible and complex craft. I now try to write 2-3 times a week and it has opened my mind creatively unlike anything I've ever experienced. I am grateful for my friend Marty Martin who inspired me to open that door”, said Lipsky.
