For 24 year old South African model, Paballa Mabula, the key to modelling, as with anything that you do in life, is ‘embracing who you are as an individual’ and ‘loving what you do’.
The seasoned fashion/runway model, photographic and commercial model, whose career kicked off back in 2015 was speaking to Urban Craft magazine in a brief interview in which he opened up about his journey, love for modelling and career aspirations.
“My journey in the modeling industry has been interesting and exciting, with it came the self-discovery, I got to know who ‘Paballa Mabula’ is and I got to know that with dedication towards what I love and the respect I have for my craft as modeling, I can conquer every stereotype out there since a lot of folks think that modeling is only for ladies. I should say, I am so proud of where I am today as I started this journey without any form of professional training. All I knew is I had to DO it and learn as I go. I got to learn a lot and today I’m breathing in what I do. The runway is where I can fully be myself and breathe.
“It has and still is a journey, it taught me that modeling is not only about beauty but knowing and embracing who you are as an individual and with loving what you do, for me modeling is a passion”, he said.
Working hard on his craft and doing everything in his power to be recognized on the international scene is something that he has dedicated himself towards over these last couple of years and will most certainly keep at for a long time to come. Paballa’s career has definitely not been lacking in terms of highlights, he shared a few of those with us.
“Well my achievements would be appearing on the 2016 Webber’s catalogue for winter range as a freelancer, and also appearing on the Supreme Nigeria fashion magazine.
“So far, having worked with the Fashion District, which is where I walked my first runway, is one of the highlights of my career. It’s still my home even today, that’s where I breathe, and I have done bit of theatre (acting, dance and bit of music) as well along the way”, said the model.
Looking ahead Paballa said his focus was on strutting his stuff on more runways and fashion shows over the coming months. The ultimate goal for him remains that of taking his craft to some of the world’s most recognizable fashion cities.
“At the moment it (focus) would be more runway and fashion shows/shoots, that’s what you can look forward to seeing from me for 2019. I’d also like to put myself in a better position where I can attract a reliable agency or two, that is scouting. My long term goal would be to work with top agencies in New York City and probably relocate as well”, he said.
