Marie Angele Lago, is a British actress, plus seize mature curves model and CEO/Founder of Diversity of African Culture and Fashion base in Aberdeen, Scotland.
She spoke to Urban Craft magazine a while back and gave us an insightful glance into her professional and personal life, below are excerpts from our chat.

How do you manage to balance being an actress, t.v. presenter, fashionista and entrepreneur all at once?

(Marie) : My work blends into the same industry which has to do with fashion, media and acting, which is the performing arts industry. The name of my Company actually captures all of this, which is the main reason why I created ‘Diversity of African Culture and Fashion’ in the first place and also because this is something I very much like and enjoy doing, it all comes natural to me.

From the aforementioned endeavors (and those we did not mention), which one would you say you are most passionate about and why?

(Marie) : I love acting. I have been doing it for a long time and I think that it brings me joy every time that I am on a set, whether it is a comedy or action film,  I really love it  and am very much passionate about it. On the other hand, modelling and being a TV presenter gives me the great opportunity to promote my culture, promote Plus Seize curves women and represent the diversity of the British society that I live in as an ethnic minority person. After participating in several catwalk, runways events and acting works here in the UK, I finally won the Second Price in the First Edition of CACI-UK  (COMITE AWOULABA COTE DIVOIRE -UK in the Ivorian Community) Beauty peagent contest. (AWOULABA’ meaning FIRST SALAMAN)

What would you say is the foremost thing that drives you to keep doing what you do?

(Marie) : I believe I have an artistic and performing art aspect in my personality. In addition to this I like being part of a film production set as well as being on fashion shows, so the combination of the performing part (being on stage, being in front of the camera, and taking part in all these events) gives me the drive to keep doing what I am doing. I have always liked it since I was young.

What are you working at this present moment that we can look forward to seeing or reading about in the months to come?

(Marie) : I am currently working on my TV Programme ‘Marie Lago TV Show’ every Saturday. When I wake up in the morning, I go through my messages on Messenger, Facebook and WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, to filter which of my followers and friends have their birthdays, wedding, baptism, carrier progression etc... Because I have to congratulate and wish them HBD in my next TV Program.
Then I prepare my Program by dividing my presentation into sections: good news, business and events in the Ivorian & African Community, Health, Motivation & Advice then make my presentation ‪at 9:30 pm‬ on Facebook live Marie Lago TV Show and on YouTube. I’ve also registered as a Freelance Actress and Plus Seize Mature Curves Model with films and modelling agencies.

For the benefit of our readership would you mind telling us a bit about yourself and just how far you've come?

(Marie) : I am a British citizen originally from Cote D'Ivoire. I am the eldest of a family of 6 children. I am a single mother of a 16 year old daughter. Before coming to the UK in 2004 I was an assistant to a CEO-Founder of a timberland company and I was a former assistant manager for an Insurance Company after I graduated from University. I came to the UK to study English courses as a foreign language. To obtain my Masters in international Business and Diplomacy, I attended in 2011 the Diplomatic Academy of Westminster University but postponed for financial and personal circumstances.
I am multi-talented, and I also have an entrepreneur mind. I created my own company, Diversity of African Culture and Fashion (Ltd) to embark on what I am currently doing --- along with a range of film and television credits. I am enthusiastic, passionate, adaptable and seeking roles in all types of productions and can portray characters aged 35-60.
