Popular SABC2 soapie, Muvhango, has embarked on a campaign to make authenticity sexy and fashionable.
The show, which is known to celebrate different shades of skin. Actors will advocate self-love and self-appreciation through roadshows and other campaigns.

Muvhango creator Duma Ndlovu says through the campaign the show aims to be a reminder that everyone deserves to feel comfortable in their own skin.

Dubbed #InMyOwnSkin, the campaign will advocate self-love and self-appreciation.

"Through this campaign, we want to encourage young girls from different backgrounds to love themselves as they are in their own skin."

Duma adds that many young women suffer from low self-esteem and depression principally due to self-doubt caused by the way they look.

We want young women to know that self-love is key, and they should not rely on other people to love themselves.

The campaign will be taken to the people through different platforms. Four popular Muvhango actresses including Zonke Mchunu who plays Imani, Sharon Seno who plays Marang, Buhle Samuels who plays Matshidio and Bukamina Cebekhulu who plays Gugu will spearhead the #InMyOwnSkin campaign.

The campaign also aimed at influencing men to celebrate and appreciate women as they are.

Actress Sharon Seno who plays Marang says she joined the campaign because she felt it was important to speak up as there’s is strength in having one voice " says the Botswana -born actress.

"I want other women to appreciate being in their own skin. I want them to see their beauty, capabilities, strength and appreciate their worthiness regardless of how society sees me," says Zonke Mchunu who plays Imani.

Bukamina Cebekhulu who plays Gugu says: "It has been one of my passions to teach girls that you are enough. That you are important no matter which background you come from. Girls need to create a sisterhood that seeks to support and nurture girls. From that sisterhood, we can only grow stronger and create a network that we can draw strength from.”
