When Henrico Coetzer performed HOOR MY WOORDE (Hear My Words), he meant it! This talented singer from Pretoria is busy winning over hearts wherever he goes and kykNET’s Maak My Famous was only the beginning!
To start off the New Year, Henrico shared his version (reworked by Pedro Kruger) and music video of SUPERHERO (the very well-known and popular EDEN song) on Facebook, which he sang while competing on Maak My Famous. He produced the video himself when he was on holiday in Cape Town. It was actually dedicated to his father, who is his own “SUPER HERO”. Within only a few days, the video was watched more than 100 thousand times and has currently been watched more than 130 000 times!
“I can’t believe it! Every now and then I have to look again to make sure I am seeing correctly!”, says an overwhelmed Henrico. “I hoped that the people would receive the song and video well, especially the emotion behind the song, the same way it touched me. It was a risk, because the song is so big and I didn’t know if people would like the change”, he adds.
The song and emotion is based on his own relationship with his father. “When I sang the song, it was difficult to hold back the tears, as my father and I have been through so much over the last few years and I really love him. He is “MY HERO”. We don’t always understand our parents’ decisions when we are young, but they only want the best for us. I realized there are so many children out there who are not so privileged to have a father or a role model in their life. Therefore, I focussed on ME, being their “Hero”, as a stand in. I never realized that the song is so deep until we started breaking it down and searched for the emotion in it. That is when I decided to get video clips of supporters, where a father, grandfather or uncle, spends time with their children and by that means I incorporated the supporters in the video”, Henrico concludes.
